THE FALSE STANDARD

Richard_NixonArticle by Barbara Cornell

August 15, 2011 was the 40th anniversary of our official abandonment of all pretense of having a gold standard.

And marks the last substantive opportunity to avoid our nation’s downward spiral into bankruptcy. (We’ve had times when our government voluntarily refrained from spending more than those of us who apply our efforts to useful production could compensate for, but they were brief, fleeting anomalies).

The reason being that once a currency has no inherent value, it can be manipulated and devalued by political machines.

But, in fact, gold itself is a currency with no inherent value.

Gold has always been a «false standard» because gold has no inherent value. You can’t eat it, can’t make shelter out of it, it’s too soft to make functioning tools or weapons. It has a few, limited industrial uses but few of them can’t just as easily be accomplished by other materials. Its only value lies in:

It’s pretty, it’s rare and difficult to get to and: people agree to take it in exchange for things that do have inherent value.

investing-in-goldThe fact that it has consistently for many centuries been widely accepted as a value holder is why it’s the standard. Gold’s increasingly «false standard» is displayed in its comparative «value» to silver better than anywhere else. Silver has exactly the same inherent value as gold (it’s pretty…), and for many centuries gold and silver held approximately the same «value» (people accepted gold in exchange for inherently valuable commodities at approximately equal or up to twice the rate of silver), but gold has been increasing in «value» much much faster than silver. (As of today, gold sells for $1818 per troy ounce and silver for $40, a differential of 45 times.)

The difference between gold and currency issued arbitrarily by an entity (currencies haven’t always been issued exclusively by governments) is that its perceived value has maintained its independence from policy makers and was one step removed from its direct manipulators.

The only thing that can assure a population’s currency is not subject to manipulation is direct barter. And that sucks.

For centuries, the next best thing was gold.

But nearly anything is better than letting the value of your entire life’s work depend on Ben Bernanke’s morning bowel movement being satisfactory.

TRAILBLAZING POLICE CHIEF, MARK KESSLER, TALKS GUNS AND FREEDOM

Article by Mark I Rasskazov.

The video above is the interview I had with Chief Kessler.  Once I got him talking, we ended up speaking on a number of subjects, where he cogently and succinctly explained his views on a number of political and philosophical subjects.

Some of the things we talked about:

c23838d5a26f73db2fd4ff5cb6c0bc2b_mooaObviously, the first thing we talked about was his interpretation of the second amendment, including his interpretation of the «Well regulated militia» clause.

We talked about the proper scope of responsibility of the government, given the constitution.

We talked about what prompted him to become so actively pro-constitutionalist on a national scale.

We talked about Obama and his policies.

We talked about Senator Feinstein and her Facebook page.

We talked about how he got banned from Facebook, and the new social networking site, Awareness Act.

We talked about Sandy Hook, and the parents’ response.

5e39a87359e4263c044f1cfa8dc40225_0h3sWe talked about how in most schools there are no armed guards, and how he was able to get it approved in his local school district.

He talked about his community in Gilberton, PA, and the relationship he has with his local government and his sheriff, as well as his take on Mayor Bloomberg and his ilk.

We talked about the responsibilities and attitudes of elected officials.

We talked about «illegal» guns.

We talked about gun registration and the Dick Act of 1902.

We talked about the Patriot Act.

06eac9103e93fcb297f012dfb200d2c2We talked about Congressional pay, the fact that they play the American people off of each other, and the fact that they vote for unconstitutional laws, as well as what we should do about it.

We talked about the possibility of a confrontation between the people and the government, including where he would stand, how many members of the government who would stand with the people, and how it would compare to the previous civil war.

We talked about the ATF and Waco.

We speculated on the possibility that the ATF’s classification of assault rifles as «machine guns» might represent a move to require a Class III Firearms License to own one.

We talked about the Supreme Court, the Constitution, the Law of the Land, and the legitimacy of the government.

3fc03d92b15b33efc249011d041b9892_o8fsWe talked about the possibility of impeaching president Obama.

We talked about the difference between a police chief and a sheriff, and why police chiefs are much more hesitant to come out publicly for the constitution.

We talked about the Constitutional Security Force, the civilian defense training organization, Fast Tactics, and his pro-freedom intelligence network, Oathbreakers.  We talked about violent crime, and how gun-ownership along with the proper training can help someone come out on top of a violent confrontation, and about how his Constitutional Security Force is partnered with Fast Tactics to provide training for private gun owners.

He closed with a call to action on the part of all liberty lovers to do their part to safeguard their freedoms for themselves, and for their posterity, and strongly reasserted the fact that our second amendment rights are the final safeguard of freedom against tyranny.

OATHBREAKERS: YOU’RE ON A LIST!

OathbreakersArticle by Mark I Rasskazov, Editor in Chief.

NOTE (1032 29 MARCH 2013): The interview I conducted with Chief Kessler is now available for public consumption on YouTube HERE.

This evening, I had the pleasure of speaking with one Mark Kessler, Police Chief of Gilberton, PA for about an hour.  It was a recorded interview, which will be available for public consumption, soon.  In the meantime, I want to bring your attention to his website: [www.OathBreakers.US].  This is a website based on an idea which I find simultaneously awesome, hilarious, and empowering: that, just as patriots are put on lists for being pro-individual rights, and pro-constitutionalist, we, the people, will now start keeping a list of politicians that violate their oaths to the constitution.

During our interview, one of the things we discussed was the fact that the very first thing an elected official of the United States does upon getting elected is to swear an oath on the Bible to the Constitution.  If an elected official swears an oath to defend the constitution, and then does the opposite, then that person is unfit for office.

We need to start keeping a record of when our leaders break their oaths.  I encourage you all to go check out OathBreakers, and join the pro-freedom intelligence network.

The more powerful the people are, the more fit they will be to be free, and the more they will demand and exercise that freedom.

Long live the Republic.

SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE UGLY

Some People Just Like Ugly

Article by Barbara Cornell.

Syndicated from Barbara Cornell’s personal blog.

My mother took me out to buy shoes when I was I was maybe 9 years old, and while we were out I observed that there were a great many shoes that were functional, plain, ordinary but perfectly adequate, there were a few that were functional and pretty. And then there were a pair that were just astoundingly, inexplicably unattractive and dysfunctional as well.  As I recall they were some species of spike-heeled, platform wedge (yes, they were both), lace-up-the-side sneakers in a rainbow of baby-feces colors.  A lot of times, I can see something that I don’t especially like but I can, if I try, see how someone else might like it.  Maybe the color is not what I would choose or it’s more clunky or less practical than I like, but I can see how someone else might put less value on those qualities, but these shoes were just inexcusably unattractive, impractical and tortuously uncomfortable (yeah, I tried them on; I just could not wrap my head around them) to the point that I couldn’t even reason my way to how someone else could possibly find them desirable.  I showed them to my mother who said some of the most profound words I can ever recall hearing, «Some people just like ugly.»

I’m sure she was just expressing the thought that passed through her mind and never thought about it again, but I’ve thought about this innumerable times in the years since and they’ve explained so many things in so many situations.

Translation: «Some things that people believe simply cannot be explained in terms that make any sense.»

There are two issues that consistently get batted about that fall solidly into this categories: gun control and culturing uselessness among our citizens through redistribution.

make-models-in-ugly-clothesI’ll leave you with another pithy tome: A few years ago, I was the Controller for a logistics company whose safety coordinator was dead-set on purchasing «bump caps» for the forklift operators in the company as well as plexi-glass cages for the tops of the lifts.  This plan represented an outlay of capital in the neighborhood of twice the company’s best-prospect income for next three years.  I was strongly opposed to this «investment», not because I was more in favor of profits than the safety of our employees but because it was a complete waste of resources and actually increased the likelihood of injury compared to doing nothing.  The identified danger to our operators was in objects falling from the tops of their loads onto the forklifts.  It was an extremely unlikely hazard (there had never been even a near-miss in a million man-hours), but it was possible.  The average weight and height of something that could fall off the tops of the loads would easily break through plexi-glass and cause head damage to the employee, the «bump caps» and plexi-glass actually made accidents more likely, and increased the chance of injury.  We could have purchased actual hardhats and installed a different arrangement on the tops of the forklifts, but our study determined the cost would be quadruple the bump-cap and plexi-glass investment and would decrease the visibility and range of motion of the employees to the point that there would not be any improvement in safety.  I believed we should either bite the bullet and do it right or do nothing, because either option would be better for both the company and the employees than the middling proposal.  The safety coordinator was nearly in tears when she explained her reasoning: «Well, at least we can feel like we did something!»

She was perfectly clear that her plan served no purpose other than to make herself feel better when a jar of pickles crashed through the top of the forklift and crushed the skull of a forklift operator.  And, ya know, at least the guy could see it coming through the plexi.  I guess.

It’s long past time that we cease to labor under the delusion that arguing gun control and letting people earn their own living with logic, sense and facts will ever make so much as a dent in the problem and admit that those in favor of disarming the populace, paying to destroy peoples’ hopes and bankrupting the greatest nation in the history of the world have no honest belief that passing their legislation has anything whatsoever to do with crime prevention, protecting innocents or improving the lives of children.  It’s difficult to accept that there are otherwise reasonable people who will reduce their own safety, abandon their own freedoms and destroy their own homes simply so that they can feel like they did SOMEthing, even if that something simply puts a bulldozer to digging our own graves rather than slaving away with a shovel.  It will only be after we lay down our own self-deception that we can begin to see the reasonable courses of action.

Until then, we are as guilty of doing «something» just so we can feel like we didn’t do nothing as those who have given themselves over to the hysterics of «but what about the CHILLLLLDRRREEEENNNN!!!!»

PUTIN STASHES TONS OF GOLD, WHILE AMERICA BURRIES ITSELF IN PLAY MONEY

EDITOR’S NOTE: Mr. Wikiriwhi is a Transegoist sympathizer; not a Transegoist — our syndication of his article does not indicate that he endorses the Transegoist philosophy.

Ron Paul must be reading the News saying “I told ja! I told ja!”  Everything he said about the corruption of the Federal Reserve, its abandonment of the Gold standard, Its «quantitative easing» is all coming home to roost.

The American Dollar is finished.  Putin knows it.

From the New Zealand Herald (B8 18-2-13):

“When Vladimir Putin says the US is endangering the global economy by abusing it’s dollar monopoly, he’s not just talking. He’s betting on it.  Not only has Putin made Russia the world’s largest oil producer, he’s also made it the biggest Gold buyer.  His central bank has added 570 tonnes of the metal in the past decade…”

DON’T CALL ME DADDY

164482283Editorial by Barbara Proctor.

Syndicated from Barbara Proctor’s personal blog.

Many Christians (substitute «liberal», «conservative», «American», «Muslim», or whatever box you are close to and this whole rant will work just as well) are guilted into believing that by failing to toe the party line and check all the boxes on the policy card handed out by the neo-Christian-conservative political policy makers makes you somehow disloyal to God. It’s like those Facebook memes that say if you don’t share a picture of Jesus on a social website whose sole purpose is to figure out what you want so they can sell it to you, then you don’t love God. It’s rank manipulation. Don’t fall for it.

There are many issues on the ticket. Evolution, blind trust in «authority», gay marriage. But Jesus removed the priesthood from the mix. It is now only Him and The Spirit between you and God. You don’t have to call anybody else «Daddy.»

It’s ok to say that lesbians being married doesn’t hurt you, and it doesn’t threaten your Christianity.

Take a minute to look at the two women featured in this article from The Ticket, then explain to yourself (don’t explain to me, it’s not my business) how letting them have a piece of paper from the courthouse just like you have makes your life any less meaningful, your marriage less valuable, your devotion to God any less real or makes this country any less strong. If you still believe it, then vote your heart. (My heart says, «View with horror and disgust any piece of legislation that attempts to control through mob rule the personal details of individual lives.») But I’m skeptical you can honestly say God wants you to be wrapped around a pole about this.

It’s ok to make up your own mind. There will always be people who will build a box for you to live in so that you will be just like them; I assume it’s so they can feel validated in their opinions. Doesn’t mean you have to get in it.

There will always be people who build a box for you so that you will be exactly like all other people they’ve decided you must be indistinguishable from and demand that you conform to it. I assume it’s so they can feel validated in their distrust for people who aren’t like them.

Still doesn’t mean you have to get in it.
